Wildlife, Stewardship & Tread Lightly
We want SLC Built Jeeps to be known as a group that cares about public lands. That means respecting wildlife, camping smart, and leaving places better than we found them.
Wildlife Etiquette
- Slow down when you see animals near or on the trail.
- Do not chase, honk at, or crowd wildlife for photos.
- Keep pets under control so they don’t harass animals or other users.
- Give extra space around livestock gates and open range cattle.
Camping, Fire & Fire Restrictions
- Follow posted fire restrictions — when it says no fires, it means no fires.
- Use existing fire rings instead of building new ones whenever possible.
- Put fires dead out: cold to the touch before you leave or sleep.
- Disperse only where legal; know the rules for the area you’re in.
Protecting Trails By Staying On Them
- Don’t create new bypasses around obstacles or mud holes.
- Don’t drive on fragile meadows, wetlands, or cryptobiotic soil.
- Keep camp and parking fully on durable surfaces (rock, gravel, hardened dirt).
Trash, Cleanups & Giving Back
- Pack out all trash, even tiny pieces and food waste.
- If you can safely grab some extra trash, it helps a lot over time.
- Watch for SLC Built Jeeps cleanup events where we go out specifically to do good.
