Uintas & Mirror Lake Highway

Alpine lakes, cool summer temps, waterfalls, and mellow forest roads. The Uintas offer some of the best beginner-friendly mountain routes in Utah.

Snake Creek Road

Difficulty: Beginner

Location: Midway • Distance: ~10 miles • Time: 1–2 hours

Smooth forest road climbing from Midway to Cascade Springs. Scenic, shaded, and perfect for cool summer drives.

Best For: Easy family rides.

What You’ll See: Forest shade, overlooks.

Hazards: Mud early season, washboard.

Little Deer Creek Falls (FR400)

Difficulty: Beginner–Moderate

Location: Near Heber • Distance: ~8 miles • Time: 1–2 hours

Shaded forest road with creek crossings and great scenery. Ends at the short hike to the falls. Mostly easy with a couple rocky bits.

Little Deer Creek OHV Loops

Difficulty: Beginner

Location: East of Deer Creek Reservoir • Distance: Variable • Time: 1–3 hours

Mellow forest loops great for practicing turns, climbs, and easy navigation.

Smooth forest and meadow terrain with big open views. A perfect warm-up Uinta trail.

A mellow canyon drive to a gorgeous reservoir. Shaded and relaxing.

Easy forest road near Mill Hollow Reservoir. Tons of shade and great picnic terrain.

Murdock Basin Road (Easy Sections)

Difficulty: Beginner–Moderate

Location: Mirror Lake Hwy • Distance: 10–15 miles • Time: 1–3 hours

Sticks to the mellow spurs near lakes. Avoid the harder rock sections further out.

One of the smoothest, most scenic beginner roads in the Uintas.
